"What does it mean to be civilized? Does it mean that we help those around us to adapt to life's changes? If this is so, who experiences a more sudden and radical change than the newborn child? What kind of caregiving has our civilization created to help the newborn, this person who must undergo the most difficult adaptation, who passes suddenly from one existence to another in being born. The child thus incarnate is a spiritual embryo. But just as it is for the physical embryo, the spiritual embryo must be protected by an external environment. Having once understood this, one must change one's attitude toward the child. The figure of the child as a spiritual embryo confronts us and imposes new responsibilities. Given such a responsibility, it is our duty to attempt to understand, also with the aid of scientific means, the psychological needs of the child and to prepare a vital environment for him."

What you are sharing is so wonderful that I feel like crying in front of so much beauty ! Thank you very much ! I wonder if you, because you are used to it, are still aware of how beautiful is the environment that you prepared for us ? But if not, please look at it again and again with a brand new eye ! It is wonderful ! 

 I don’t feel like sharing this in the comments in front of the group for the moment because it is too intimate but since in the previous topic, thanks to you ladies, I became aware that as a father, I will be an environment for our babies and her mother, my relationship with my « wife » naturally changed. I feel that the awareness of me being her « love » environment, I somehow became a « Montessori husband » and she seems so happy about it.

What an honor to be a part of this course! This intro really resonates and gives insight into those fundamental 'early days' on earth, it makes me wonder about my own very 'first experiences' as a child, and inspires me to be the absolute best I can be for my newborn as he navigates his first days here with us in this world.
