Karin Slabaugh, Montessori Mentors International Cosmic Task 0-3 Education.
San Luis Potosi May 2018The workshops and consultations will offer an understanding of these women who carefully observed the youngest children, studied
their needs and developed ways to offer them care outside of the home that was respectful and secure such that they grew in an
environment of internal and external peace. The Montessori 0-3 modality presented in the workshops is based on their work.
Educator workshop & Parent workshop:overview of the philosophies: peacefully transitioning children into childcare according to the individual needs of
each parent/child couple; the critical aspect of the key person/primary caregiver and the child’s need for a secure base; providing for the need to explore,
first with the hand and individual objects and then the developmental instinct to relate objects together, inserting and stacking; the binary nature of activity;
recognizing concentration in motion and the role of gross movement as a passage to fine hand development, the materials that provide for these
opportunities; observation/non intervention and the prepared environment; including children in the real work of daily tasks and chores; freedom of choice.
Consultations: first meeting with the program director and educators to outline priorities; classroom observations; meeting with educators to discuss
observations and to facilitate the transformation they are seeking. Brainstorming/discussing specific issues from their programs (follow the guide). Written report
will be provided upon request.
